Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture "is a groundbreaking national magazine of feminism and pop culture critique that since 1996 has informed, challenged, and entertained generations of supporters." As a non-profit they rely on continued support from the public and also put on great events such as this, the sm[art] Art show and silent auction.
The event is scheduled to take place October 20th at the Ace Hotel in Portland ( visit www.acehotel.com and click on Portland). The evening will kick off at 7pm and will be hosted by Marie Fleischmann. Some of the contributing artists include Hannah Stouffer, Eva Lake, Shannon Wheeler, Amy Ruppel, Nikki McClure, the Guerilla Girls, Aya Kakeda and myself to name a few. See the press release below for more info including ticket info.
If you're in the area definitely mark October 20th on your calendar and swing by to show your support, to check out sweet artwork, jewelry & crafts, have your tarot card reading or to just have a drink. And you might come out of there with the perfect artwork for your wall... Just sayin'!

THE SHATNER SHOW
Here's a little video promoting an art exhibition and book about the wonderous Billy Shatner. Yes little dudes, William Shatner is the subject of a new book being published by Uppercase out in Calgary. Well myself along with Mr.James Braithwaite (The Minuette Duet also known as Pony of Prey) collabed on a Shatner inspired art piece for Maisonneuve Magazine back in issue 19. The artwork has now been lovingly included along with about 75 artists in the Shatner Show book which will be available in mid June. The unveiling of the book will take place at Uppercase Gallery and on the web on June 15th and the gallery will be open to the public from June 16th till August 31st 2007. So have a look at www.theshatnershow.com for more info. The artwork featured in this little 128 page hard cover beauty is definitely a worthwhile frontier.
UPPERCASE is located on the upper level of Art Central, at the corner of 7th Avenue SW and Centre Street.

Adventure Time
I cannot seem to begin to explain how much I love this cartoon. It's like a rattlesnake neck scarf... It'll never go out of style.

RARE KISSY-FACE SKIN BIRD DISCOVERED
Here is an illustration of the Kissy-Face Skin Bird which was once thought to be extinct. With bright bulgging fleshy rings around it's eye's, horse hair-like tail, long dark talons, and skinny long legs the Kissy-Face Skin Bird is truly a seductive sight for all fanatic bird watchers. Depicted here in it's iconic mating pose which legend has it had the ability to entyce and sexually stimulate any creature into a lustfull frenzy. Philippino native witchdoctors utilized these Kissy-Face Skin Birds for curing many sexual deficiencies.
Illustrated above is a Kissy-Face Skin Bird caretaker who has been found breeding these rare animals in a free range environment. The only one known in existence! He claims to have several hundred of these rare gems and hopes one day to help them re-populate in natural environments.
